Easy Skillet Lasagna Recipe..Picture heavy!!

Good Morning My Blogger Friends,

I hope all is well and good in all your lives.

I do want to thank you all for your kind and warm comments. It is very much appreciated and encouraging!

I do have a couple pictures to share with you today of the "Kitchen Remodel", but you all have to be patient, and please always keep in mind that the remodel is an ongoing thing, and though I want to share as much as I can with you, I am always hesitant to post pictures when so much is still undone, or in the process of being done. So many times it is just ugly!!!! ;-)

First I wanted to share this simple recipe with you all. We all LOVE Lasagna, but I rarely find the time to make it, so I have a cheater recipe I use that is simple and yummy! At least we think so!

It is called Turkey Skillet Lasagna, and is all made in one pan on top of the stove.

INGREDIENTS:
1 TBS Olive Oil
3 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 lb. Ground Turkey
Salt & Pepper
8 Lasagna Noodles, each broken into 4 pieces(16 oz.)
1 (26 oz) Jar of Tomato Sauce
1 1/2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
3/4 Cup Ricotta
2 Cups water

1. Warm oil in a 12" non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add turkey, salt & pepper, and cook, breaking up meat into small pieces with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink.

2. Scatter lasagna noodles over turkey. Pour tomato sauce and 2 cups of water on top of noodles. Bring to a simmer, and then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook until noodles are tender, stirring occasionally, 20 to 22 minutes. Season with more salt & pepper if desired.

3. Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella onto turkey and noodle mixture and stir to combine. Remove from heat and spoon heaping tablespoonfuls of ricotta on top of lasagna. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Cover and let stand until cheese is melted.

This is my sweetness Megan. I'm sure I am going to hear it from her when she sees this post! Love ya sweetie! ;-)
Oh my, I just noticed the coffee pot! Please excuse!!! This is Ed's. He doesn't like my coffee, so he has to fix his own on top of the stove, and he uses our camp coffee pot! ;-)

There you have it. I usually serve this with a green salad and crusty bread.

Bon Appetit

I wanted to share with you a couple things Ed has made for me the past week or two.
I have this corner hanging cupboard that I bought years ago, and I have wanted to mimic it with a floor cupboard to put under it!

Here is the cupboard I bought!

Here is the cupboard that Ed made to put on the floor under it!

Not an identical match, but exactly what I had envisioned! He did a great job on it...don't you think?

He made this simple little towel rack a couple weeks ago for me. We were out shopping, and I saw one and was going to buy it, and faithful Ed said "I can make you one", and he did! ;-)

Now onto the kitchen. We have been working on a couple of the upper cupboards this week, and trying to get some of the taping, mudding, priming, and painting done on the kitchen wall above the sink.
This cupboard is my dish cupboard! It is on the wall to the left of my sink. I base painted it black and used Country Red(Olde Century Paints)as a Top Coat. Distressed to my taste and antiqued it. I absolutely love it!

Another view.

As you can see the corner on the other side of the dish cupboard is not done yet. We are working our way down the kitchen, and the corner oven, bake area and pantry are on the opposite end of the kitchen from the fireplace sitting area. That will be the last section we have to work on, and please excuse the ugly view out the window. That is our pool deck, which we work on during the summer months! ;-)

This next cupboard does sit on top of the counter and is to the right of my sink. I call it my coffee cupboard! ;-) This is where I hide my coffee pot, filters, cups and all that stuff!

This is looking straight on at the cupboard. The french doors are to the right, and the kitchen windows to the left. This whole wall that runs the length of the kitchen is almost DONE!!!!!;-) We ran out of primer the other night, so Ed couldn't finish priming and painting the rest of the wall. He'll get it finished up next week when he returns. Then we just need to get the rest of the trim put up, cover the light switches, put the grills in the kitchen windows and it will be Finished!

I'll give you all a peek at the outside wall that runs the length of the kitchen. Now remember we still have those finishing touches to put on it, but I wanted you all to get a better idea of the layout of the kitchen, and placement of cupboards.
I think I am going to run a shelf from one cupboard to the other above the window. Looking at these picture now...it doesn't seem right. There is to big of an expanse between the cupboards. I'll have to wait until the grills are in, that might make a difference too! ;-)
I wish you all could see the before pictures. It is a totally different room! I have pictures somewhere. One of these days I'll have to go see if I can find them.

The last picture is the same as whats at the top. Yes, it is not in color. ;-)
If I left it colored then I wouldn't share it! ;-)
I'm hoping this picture too will help you get a better understanding of the layout of the kitchen. I took this picture standing at the end of the island, in front of the bake center looking toward the fireplace sitting area!

Well that is about it for now folks. Told you it was a little picture heavy!
Thanks for stopping by and you all have a very blessed day! Until next time.

  2. That is sooo gorgeous! Maybe I missed it, but did you guys build your cabinets or did you buy them or redo some cabinets? We are considering downsizing into a house we can "afford" and I would love to personalize it to be "our" home and our style! I'd also love to save some money by not having custom or even store bought cabinets! I know that my dad built cabinets for his house...not exactly my style but I'd love YOURS! His is more "cabin" style and I like other types better...
    Lovely Blog, as usual!!!

  13. Prim Blessings!! Such a fabulous kitchen makeover. Please locate those before pictures. They would be great to see. We made our own kitchen cupboards and used a multi-step finishing process to get the same look you have. I am so proud of our kitchen, and it cost us very little doing it that way. I bet you'll love spending time in that gorgeous room.
