Just a few new signs we have created here at Palmer Falls Primitive.Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15696154852026666350noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7140292327170507847.post-18109380895565714802010-05-08T07:08:00.000-07:002012-10-18T18:04:03.501-07:00Beautiful Day for a Field TripGood Morning Friends,

Just wanted to share a couple pictures from the field trip the kids and I took yesterday.
We have been studying Abraham Lincoln, and made plans to visit his birthplace in Hodgenville,Ky as we wrapped up our studies. Ed unfortunately had to leave town and had to miss our field trip. I was going to reschedule for another date when he was home, but Anna was so upset I decided we would go without him!

It was a beautiful day, and the kids were excited to get on the road. Anna helped make our bag lunches, and get the boys moving so we could start our fun.

After watching a short video in the visitor center we headed out to go see the log cabin and sinking springs. I told the boys they better wait for their sister and they did exactly what I knew they would...Ran!

Poor Anna, she always wants to be where her brothers are, and they like to hear her scream. Well they weren't going to lose her that easily...she took off in pursuit!

I don't see them...which way did they go?

Are you coming mommy?

There they are! Yes, you can tell by the look on Jordon's face that he thought it was funny.

Unfortunately for us the log cabin is undergoing renovations and closed to the public at this time, so the kids were not able to see it. We headed down to the sinking springs.

It was amazing to feel the drop in temperature as you descended down the stairs.

It was a very warm day and a bit torturous to see and hear this lovely spring water and not be able to take a drink! ;-)

Ryan spotted a craw dad in the bottom pool of the springs! That thing was big. I don't think I have ever seen one that big, and leave it to a boy to notice it!

We walked around looking at the flora & fauna, and enjoyed imagining life on "The Sinking Spring Farm" 200 years ago when Abraham Lincoln was born.

He was only three when the family left their Hodgenville homestead and moved to Knob Creek, but I imagine he drank plenty of water from those springs and enjoyed running through the same fields we were walking as a carefree young boy!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you all have a blessed Saturday. Its out to the garden for me for some much needed weed pulling.

I am way over due for an update, but the problem is I have very little to update. We have done very little with the kitchen remodel. This is Ed's busy time of the year with his job and the traveling is pretty much non-stop through out the spring and summer months. We have been busy trying to get the vegetable garden in, get the pool opened up and doing general yard work, so any time he has at home is busy doing those things.

I myself have been enjoying my new found freedom. The little ones and I have been enjoying spending so much more time together doing the things that really matter...making memories!

I ordered a flush mount ceiling light for the kitchen sitting area back in January and that has finally come in...along with a some wall sconces that I ordered too. I'll take a couple pictures so you all can see how much better it looks then that gaping hole in the ceiling! ;-) The sconces are still in the box waiting for me to decide where I am going to use them. I know two will be going above the fireplace but the others I am unsure where I will be using them. I actually have way more sconces then I need, so I probably will be selling some of them. If anybody is interested let me know... ;-)

Oh, I have made some changes to the kitchen remodel too. Poor Ed!!! If he was smart he would get this kitchen finished so I could no longer make changes! ;-) There are two areas that are not finished that we built temporary pieces for. The island and bake center! My stove top sits in the island right now, but I have decided I would rather have it over against the wall where the bake center is suppose to go! I won't have a bake center, but not hyaving the stove top in the island will open that up and give me not only a bigger work area, but also more seating!

I've been doing a bit of tweaking and rearranging the last week and thought I would share a few photos with you all on what I have changed/moved!

This little cupboard in my dining room had just my stoneware lamp on it, which I moved and then added the old books, firkin and mirror on the wall...not sure if I like the lamp there or not!?

I moved all my pewter from the red slanted cupboard to my antique cupboard in the dining room. This I like very much!

I had the hardest time decorating the red cupboard after I took all the pewter out. It is okay, but I am not thrilled with it. I'm sure I'll be doing some more tweaking with it!
Well that is about it folks. I gotta get scooting and take Ed to the airport. I hope you all enjoy your day. Suppose to be sunny and 84 here today. I know I'll be outside doing something later on when I get back from the airport and get everything done inside.
Thanks for stopping by!

Long time, no blog! ;-)

What a busy past 3 weeks we have had. I mentioned my sister & Mom coming for a visit in my last post, and then us going up to Maine for a week. What I didn't mention was the reason for the visit. Well my Mom & sister never need a reason to visit, but this visit was really not planned and more of a spur of the moment thing.

My sister was layed off work after 24 years in the medical field, and as she was struggling with what she was going to do for income I was struggling with my business and if I wanted to continue with it. My business has been an unbelievable blessing to me and something I built up over the past 4 years. I loved doing it, but struggled with the time it took away from my home and family. I have always been family orientated and prided myself on always being a SAHM and available to my children & husband 24/7, but the business changed that! I kept thinking it would all eventually balance out, and not take as much of my time, but the business kept growing and expanding to the point that I realized I couldn't do both and I was sacrificing the one thing I never thought I would! My children. :(

The timing could not have been more perfect. When Lisa told me she was getting layed-off and not sure what she was going to do. I knew the answer! Ed & I talked about it and mulled it over for about a week and then I casually asked her in one of our many conversations if she was interested in taking over my business. She was, and the rest is history! We immediately made plans for her to come down to Ky to learn the business, and then Ed and I drove everything up to Maine and helped her set up shop! We all have had a great time over the past two weeks, and now we are back home in Ky, and "Palmer Falls Primitive" now resides in Gorham, Maine! I know Lisa will continue to grow the business as I have done these past 4 years, and I know without a doubt she will continue to produce the quality signs and furniture that Palmer Falls has become known for!
May her new venture be a blessing to her and her beautiful family. I love ya Sis! ;-)

Now there is noway my sister and I are going to get together and not do some prim & antique shopping.
She took me to a great prim shop in Buxton, ME called "The Mustard House", and I picked myself up a few treasures.

Ed & I headed to NY after our stay in Maine so we could see some of our family and visit my grandma! Grandma is 97 years old and the best Grandma anyone could ask for. When Mom was down in Ky we got a phone call that Grama wasn't doing well, and her time may be short, so I thought it a perfect opportunity to go see her while we were up that way. I am so glad that we did! Isn't she the cutest!? I love you Gramma!

Since being back home in Ky we have been busy with our kids and their birthdays, baseball practice and the beautiful weather...which we have taken advantage of. We have the vegetable garden all tilled, composted, and ready for planting... which we did a bit of today. The greenbeans are in as well as the squash and cantalope.
I started the seeds before we left for Maine and they are doing stupendous! I'll probably get some more in while Ed is away next week. I love working in the garden, and I have my little helper too!

Yesterday was my oldest daughter Megan's Birthday, so we spent the day at Saunders Springs having a BBQ and enjoying the weather.

Hard to believe my baby is now 19 years old. What an unbelievable blessing she has been to raise. A beautiful young women both outside and inside. I love you angle face!

Thats about it for today my friends. No updates on the remodel because there have been none! ;-)
Hopefully when Ed returns from this trip we will be getting that kitchen finished up! I hope so. With summer fast approaching there is so much we want to get to outside, and I am so looking forward to all the things we have planned. Now that I don't have a large part of my time tied up with the business I may actually get to all those things I have been putting off for years! I feel like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders and I am excited about the changes this decision will bring into our lives.

Oh, I almost forgot that when Lisa showed up in my driveway she came with a gift for her big sister!
I have two antique jugs from a stoneware co. in Ft. Edward, NY...a town close to where we grew up. I have a 1 & 2 gal, and have been searching for a 3 gal. My sweet dear sister gave me her 3 gal. jug! Isn't she the greatest!?

The three of the jugs together on my hearth! They look amazing!

Thanks for stopping by and be blessed my friends!

What a beautiful Saturday we are having! It is sunny and just about 60 degrees out, but unfortunately I am stuck in the house cleaning.

It has been a week since my last update, and what a busy week it has been. Ed and I had a absolutely wonderful time at The Offerings Cash & Carry Show, and I have some pics to share with you all of some of the things we purchased for both ourselves and the website. I got 4 pieces from Doug of Olde Tyme Sales. He does beautiful work and has some really unique pieces. Here are 2 of the pieces in the dining room along with a taller cupboard we purchased from "The Settlement Trading Co.

Love this hanging cupboard with the rough sewn edge, and lumpy finish on the interior section.

The Pie Safe is my absolute favorite piece if that is even possible! ;-) How do you even pick a favorite? I love all my pieces obviously, or I wouldn't buy them! lol!

The two pieces together, and I didn't buy them with the intentions of displaying them together, but when something comes together and works... well, why mess with perfection!

This taller cupboard is from "The Olde Settlement Co". I did buy two. This one and another done in a brown color.

Another hanging cupboard from the same company.

This is another item from Doug at Olde Tyme Sales! Isn't it just wonderful?! Anna has fallen in love with this rocker, and I had no room for it, so I have actually moved my desk from the kitchen and made room for this in there. :-)

Last two pictures are a couple wood candle sconces I grabbed. Love them booth!

After we did our stint at the show we headed about 30 minutes north of Columbus and stopped at Delaware, OH so I could see "The Seraph" with my very own eyes. I have been drooling over this place for a couple years on the web, and to see it all in person was just so...yummy!!! I bought a throw rug and a swag curtain for my dining room window at The Seraph! I have taken so many pics, but with the light coming in the window I just can't get a good one. We plan on adding bottom shutters to this winow so I just wanted a simple swag for the top and this fit the bill perfectly!

After leaving there we headed back toward home, and swung by and stopped at "North Shore Primitives"...Wow!!! This place was great! So much to see and drool over. I did buy myself a little treasure! I feel in love with this guy.

We got home late Saturday night, and we then spent the next 3 days filling orders and trying to get the house ready for out of town guest. My cousin and her husband from NY came for a little visit. We had a wonderful time with them both, and only wish their visit could have been longer. We took them to Glendale for a little Prim/Antique shopping and I got this little darling!

Is she too stinking cute or what?!

They left yesterday morning, and my sister Lisa and Mom are due to arrive later this evening from Maine & NY, so I have been busy cleaning again. Mom and Sis will be here a week, and then we are following them back up to Maine and will stay there for about a week, so the next couple of weeks are going to be crazy, and I probably will find little time for blogging. Hopefully after we get back from Maine we can get the last bit of the kitchen finished and done, which I of course will be sharing with my blog friends!

One quick last picture is a x-stitch I finished up a couple weeks ago and forgot to post. This was done using a wonderful pattern from Stacy Nash! It is suppose to have a longer loop on it to hang around your neck to hold scissors, but I wanted it to hang on a cupboard so I shortened it up.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a blessed next week. Thanks for dropping by!

And what a glorious Friday it is going to be! Lots of sun with temps in the 70's. Woo Hoo bring it on. Ed and I are leaving this afternoon for Ohio to attend the Offerings Handcrafted Marketplace Cash & Carry Show! I am excited about going to the show and getting away with my wonderful hubby for a few days.

It has been a couple weeks since I posted so I thought I would give you all a quick update about the kitchen, and show you a few pictures! Ed has been in and out the last few weeks, but we did manage to get the floors finished and I love them!
We spent just about 3 days sanding, staining and polying the floors. We of course had to move everything out of the kitchen including that monstrous Island...a big job to say the least, but oh so worth it!

I hope you can get an idea of the finished floors from the pictures. I'll have to get some better pictures of the floors and the window grills when I have more time to fiddle around with this camera!

We did the kitchen floors the same as we did the dining room. We used 1"X8" pine boards, biscuit joined them to one another and screwed them into the sub-floor. Counter sunk the screws and plugged them with wood buttons. I tried getting some shots of the window grills, but didn't have much luck, but you can get an idea of how much better the windows look with the grills in verses without them.

Well I need to get moving and get my bags packed. I hope you all have a very blessed weekend, and if you are having warm temps and sunshine this weekend, get out there and enjoy yourselves!

It's been a while since I have updated. Not because I didn't want to or because I was too busy...well I am busy, but that isn't the reason! ;-)
I just haven't had much to update about. My days are absolutely filled with busyness, but it is nothing really exciting. It is the same thing day in and day out. I'm not complaining, just saying my day to day life isn't all that interesting, so I have nothing to update that would be of interest! :-)

The kitchen remodel has come to a standstill right now. Ed has been traveling a lot the last 3-4 weeks, and when he is home he has to catch up on the furniture orders he has, so it leaves no time for the kitchen work. I am starting to get depressed about it. It has been a long 2 1/2 years since we gutted the upstairs, and though we have made a lot of progress it still is NOT completed. I just want it done already. Living with the house tore up or half finished is so chaotic, and really does cause me to feel a little depressed. It is hard to explain, but I feel out of balance if that even makes sense.

Ed was home for a few days in between trips, and we had a beautiful Saturday afternoon a couple weeks back with temperatures in the 60's, so we took a little trip to Glendale. It is this quaint little town about 20-30 minutes from us, filled with antique shops and prim stores. We had a wonderful day together, and I did find the perfect antique corner cupboard for my dining room.

Ever since we finished the dining room there has been this one corner that has given me grief! Nothing I put in this corner looked good. No matter how I decorated it or what I moved into that corner looked good to me. Well I am happy to say that finally after a year of hating that corner, I am now thrilled whenever my eye wonders to that part of the dining room!
The cupboard originally had doors on the bottom section which have since been removed. I do want to see if we can come up with something to replace them. I may for now put a piece of fabric up to hide the bottom two shelves?

See the stack of antique coverlets? I have a few projects in mind for some of these pieces. I have used some of the pieces already.

I made this little school girl purse awhile back, and have a couple more cut out from the different coverlets. Just need to find the time to finish them up!

I used a red and white coverlet to make a couple pillows for the love seat in the kitchen, but I'm not sure yet about them. I love them, but not sure if I love them on the love seat! I can always put them downstairs in the family room. My furniture down there is a red and white check so they may look better. I am having a hard time finding pillows I love on this piece. I had some new lovers knot pillows on there, but thought I needed something that popped more? What to do!!

I have to share this item I got off ebay for Ed! Ed is a huge train buff. I mean huge. He has model trains, he has books, magazines, tapes and dvd's, posters, coffee mugs...well you get the picture. He is a big train enthusiast, and has been since he was a child
The problem with his love of trains is I don't share it!!!! ;-) Well that, and the fact that it does NOT go well with my decor. He has tried over the years to sneak some train items into my home decor, but I quickly move it to a well hidden, inconspicuous place. Hopefully someday he will be able to display and enjoy all his trains in his very own train room, but until then, being the loving and thoughtful wife that I am, I bought this item off ebay for him, and I am displaying it on the kitchen mantel!!!!

Isn't it wonderful!!!! I fell in love with it when I saw it. I wasn't even looking for it, just kinda stumbled across it, and the price was awesome! It is made from wood, and is over 100 years old. There is one wheel missing, but that doesn't take away from it at all. I would imagine it has been lovingly played with by many over the years, and now we get to care for it until it passes to the next care giver.
Okay, I admit it was just as much for me as it was for Ed. ;-) I never thought I would see the day that I would like a train, and actually display it in my home!

Well that's about it for now folks. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great evening.

Well another week has passed and we have done little work on the kitchen remodel. Ed was out of town for 4 days, and that really slows down the work. Our grill for the window did come in and it FITS!!! ;-)
This is the second time ordering them, and it is a slow process. We ordered just one to make sure it fit, and went back to Home Depot today to order the other three. It will be another three weeks before they are in, and then we will be able to paint them and put them up in the windows...I can't wait! ;-)

I am also waiting on a flush mount ceiling light for the sitting area. That will be another four weeks. Looks like everything will be arriving around the same time. I guess that will keep us busy!

♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

I thought I had shared the desk and TV cupboard Ed made me for the kitchen, but I guess not. Anyways, I have a small TV in the kitchen and had been wanting to build some type of cupboard to set it in and hide it behind when not in use. I came up with this design, and Ed did a great job! Looks exactly how I had envisioned it.

I bought myself a present this week! No, it was not anything for the house, a primitive or an antique. I know, I know... horror of horrors! ;-) It is a new digital camera! We have been having fun taking pictures and learning how to use it. I am far from a photographer, but the camera does take much better pictures then my old one. Here are a couple of the girls.

And one of Zeke and Lady Lydia enjoying their time outside.

Now before any of you ask, "Why does she always show pictures of her two girls, but we rarely see the boys"? Well this is why!! ;-)

Yep, this is what they usually do when I have the camera out and try to snap a picture of them. Silly, I know!

♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Well I suppose now I should write something that has to do with the title of my post! Hearth Cooking!
Like so many of you, I love Prims, Early American, and Colonial, and I am enamored with the life of those who came before us. I try never to romanticize this life. Their life was filled with hardships and struggles that most of us could not even begin to imagine, but I like to try to experience if but briefly what life may have been like for a women living 200 years ago, so tonight dinner was made on the open hearth, and it was... Delicious!
It was time consuming, it was hot, and it was back breaking! ;-)

I made "Sticky Chicken", which I normally prepare in the oven, and it is always yum, but tonight it was really yum!!!

I also made baked potatoes in the hot coals. Why do baked potatoes always taste better when cooked in hot coals?

I did cheat, and warmed up the peas in the microwave. I saw no sense in opening a can of peas and then putting them in a pan over the fire...after all they are in a can! Someone preparing peas 200 years ago would not have been getting them from a can! I enjoyed my dinner preparation tonight, and the food was very good, but I would not want to have to prepare every meal that I fed my family this way. As much as I love the decor, the look, and the history of Early America... I also love my oven, refrigerator and dish washer!

I appreciate the woman(and men) who forged a life in the wilderness of this country. I am grateful to those who came before, and the sacrifices they made. I am humbled by their strength & perseverance, and I hope I honor them by the way I live my life. I take nothing for granted, and appreciate all that I have.

Well my friends it is time to wrap things up, and go watch a bit of my modern distraction(TV)before I tuck myself in my nice warm bed. Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed rest of the weekend!

Good Morning My Blogger Friends,

I hope all is well and good in all your lives.

I do want to thank you all for your kind and warm comments. It is very much appreciated and encouraging!

I do have a couple pictures to share with you today of the "Kitchen Remodel", but you all have to be patient, and please always keep in mind that the remodel is an ongoing thing, and though I want to share as much as I can with you, I am always hesitant to post pictures when so much is still undone, or in the process of being done. So many times it is just ugly!!!! ;-)

First I wanted to share this simple recipe with you all. We all LOVE Lasagna, but I rarely find the time to make it, so I have a cheater recipe I use that is simple and yummy! At least we think so!

It is called Turkey Skillet Lasagna, and is all made in one pan on top of the stove.

INGREDIENTS:
1 TBS Olive Oil
3 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 lb. Ground Turkey
Salt & Pepper
8 Lasagna Noodles, each broken into 4 pieces(16 oz.)
1 (26 oz) Jar of Tomato Sauce
1 1/2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
3/4 Cup Ricotta
2 Cups water

1. Warm oil in a 12" non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add turkey, salt & pepper, and cook, breaking up meat into small pieces with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink.

2. Scatter lasagna noodles over turkey. Pour tomato sauce and 2 cups of water on top of noodles. Bring to a simmer, and then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook until noodles are tender, stirring occasionally, 20 to 22 minutes. Season with more salt & pepper if desired.

3. Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella onto turkey and noodle mixture and stir to combine. Remove from heat and spoon heaping tablespoonfuls of ricotta on top of lasagna. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Cover and let stand until cheese is melted.

This is my sweetness Megan. I'm sure I am going to hear it from her when she sees this post! Love ya sweetie! ;-)
Oh my, I just noticed the coffee pot! Please excuse!!! This is Ed's. He doesn't like my coffee, so he has to fix his own on top of the stove, and he uses our camp coffee pot! ;-)

I wanted to share with you a couple things Ed has made for me the past week or two.
I have this corner hanging cupboard that I bought years ago, and I have wanted to mimic it with a floor cupboard to put under it!

Here is the cupboard I bought!

Here is the cupboard that Ed made to put on the floor under it!

Not an identical match, but exactly what I had envisioned! He did a great job on it...don't you think?

He made this simple little towel rack a couple weeks ago for me. We were out shopping, and I saw one and was going to buy it, and faithful Ed said "I can make you one", and he did! ;-)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 243px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUp0aKJixb1I9mWCvn_PzLNw-ZcWDvKXo40tbOP2yheaY5sw3AtE7P6ZLRfmsA3LzrjgdHYsnJaY_gPqAi9YpI2XMYc4ZNMy4H5WguGgzeJ3Tc3fMQ9wVNs8tcs4tsbBxdteyK20AxHGI/s320/SDC11288.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434410801485780402" />

Now onto the kitchen. We have been working on a couple of the upper cupboards this week, and trying to get some of the taping, mudding, priming, and painting done on the kitchen wall above the sink.
This cupboard is my dish cupboard! It is on the wall to the left of my sink. I base painted it black and used Country Red(Olde Century Paints)as a Top Coat. Distressed to my taste and antiqued it. I absolutely love it!

Another view.

As you can see the corner on the other side of the dish cupboard is not done yet. We are working our way down the kitchen, and the corner oven, bake area and pantry are on the opposite end of the kitchen from the fireplace sitting area. That will be the last section we have to work on, and please excuse the ugly view out the window. That is our pool deck, which we work on during the summer months! ;-)

This next cupboard does sit on top of the counter and is to the right of my sink. I call it my coffee cupboard! ;-) This is where I hide my coffee pot, filters, cups and all that stuff!

This is looking straight on at the cupboard. The french doors are to the right, and the kitchen windows to the left. This whole wall that runs the length of the kitchen is almost DONE!!!!!;-) We ran out of primer the other night, so Ed couldn't finish priming and painting the rest of the wall. He'll get it finished up next week when he returns. Then we just need to get the rest of the trim put up, cover the light switches, put the grills in the kitchen windows and it will be Finished!

I'll give you all a peek at the outside wall that runs the length of the kitchen. Now remember we still have those finishing touches to put on it, but I wanted you all to get a better idea of the layout of the kitchen, and placement of cupboards.
I think I am going to run a shelf from one cupboard to the other above the window. Looking at these picture now...it doesn't seem right. There is to big of an expanse between the cupboards. I'll have to wait until the grills are in, that might make a difference too! ;-)
I wish you all could see the before pictures. It is a totally different room! I have pictures somewhere. One of these days I'll have to go see if I can find them.

The last picture is the same as whats at the top. Yes, it is not in color. ;-)
If I left it colored then I wouldn't share it! ;-)
I'm hoping this picture too will help you get a better understanding of the layout of the kitchen. I took this picture standing at the end of the island, in front of the bake center looking toward the fireplace sitting area!

Well that is about it for now folks. Told you it was a little picture heavy!
Thanks for stopping by and you all have a very blessed day! Until next time.
Hello There All My Wonderful Blogger Friends!
Yes, I am still alive and kicking...though you couldn't tell from my lack of updating and blogging. Sorry!!!! I actually contemplated just closing my blog down, but I thought of all you wonderful folks, and how so many of you have faithfully followed and waited for updates on our remodel and just couldn't do it. So I am here to finally give you an update, and hopefully stay more on top of my blogging.

Honestly I have the hardest time figuring out how to balance my time so I can get everything done in the day that needs to be done. My first priority is the kids school, and then there is the business and orders that need to be worked on, and then there are all those other pesky household responsibilities to attend to. I find little time for anything else. I am happy to say that health wise I am feeling better, and the last blood work did show my anemia getting better. The count is still to low, but slowly climbing, and I am not as fatigued as I had been, so looks like all those silly pills are working. I still struggle to find the time to use the treadmill, but I haven't given up. ;-)

Shouldn't stay around long. Maybe a couple days or so. That is the beauty of snow here in Kentucky...It melts quickly! ;-)

Both the girls enjoyed their romp through the snow as well as Little Lady Lydia. She is Megan's(our oldest daughter) New Great Pyrenees Puppy. She really is the sweetest little thing... well not really little, but sweet none the less, and I have yet to hear one peep out of her.

Our business continues to do very well, and at times we have all we can do to keep up. All the handcrafted items take time, and though my customers are the BEST in the world, I always feel so pressured to get orders out quicker then probably is doable. I add the stress myself!! .I have been wanting to introduce more retail into the website, and plan on a textile purchase from "Family Heirloom Weavers" next week. Still trying to decide what exactly I want to offer my customers. They have such gorgeous textiles, and made here in the USA! I need to decide so I can get that order placed Monday or Tuesday. If anybody has any suggestions or if there is a certain design that they offer and you would like to see us carry, then drop me an email. I would love to hear from you.

Just finished up some new Shelf Sitters, and signs this past week, and finished this simple "Bowl Shelf" today. I've been wanting to make this up for over a year, and finally got to it this weekend. Wasn't at all difficult...Just had to find the time to get it done!

We have made a lot of progress, though we still have probably another 2 months before we are completely done with it! There is a lot of those little tedious details to finish. Like the grills in the kitchen windows. They are on order, and should be here soon. The molding, and finishing up the brick around the wall oven. Ed has all the cupboards built except for my bake center, and broom closet.I'll give you all a peek of the sitting area of the kitchen. It isn't completed yet, but well enough along that I'm not embarrassed to share it with you all. ;-)
Thank you so much for stopping by and seeing what I've been up to. I'm hoping to be updating more about the kitchen over the next few weeks.
You all have a very blessed evening, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15696154852026666350noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7140292327170507847.post-1980980945986915212009-10-16T11:26:00.000-07:002012-10-18T18:18:25.618-07:00Needed a new end table!!

Hi Friends,

It is getting colder here in Kentucky! We started our first fire in the wood stove to take a bit of the chill off! I have been putting it off as long as I could. I love heating with wood, but I usually am in no hurry to start. Ed on the other hand is ready to start fires as soon as the temps dip below 70 degrees. :-)

Well Ed is away right now, and I decided I needed a new end table for one end of the sofa in the family room, so I did what any self-respecting, self taught crafter would do... I made it myself!!! Now normally I leave all the furniture making up to Ed, but when I decide I need something, well I need it right then and there! Is anybody else like that?
Ed is going to be gone for another 2 weeks, and there was no way I was waiting that long to make a new end table. I can't really buy any wood furniture. I mean I do from time to time, but then I have to hear about how "He" could have made it for me, so I have learned to be patient enough, and wait for him to build me something I have seen, and just have to have!

I figured I could tackle the job of the end table, and knew exactly what I wanted it to look like, and plus Ed just bought a pneumatic nailer, and I was dieing to get my hands on it. ;-) I had Ryan help me hold the boards while we glued and nailed the pieces together that I had all cut out. It is a pretty simple design, and it went together like a charm. I painted the bottom lamp black, and stained the top of it. It is far from perfect, and I know Ed would have done a much better job if I could have just waited for him, but I must say I am very pleased with how it turned out, and thought I would share it with you all.

Well that's about it!
Just wanted to real quick put up some pictures of the finished cupboard.
This is the one I told you about in my last post... the one Ed had finished to go on the wall next to the fireplace in the kitchen.

I had to use my flash, so the color looks a bit brighter then it actually is. I painted it Country Red using Olde Century paints, distressed it a bit, and then finished it using an antique staining gel from Olde Century. I am LOVING it!!

It is pretty much your typical stepback. I had seen an antique one online and it had the slanted top, so that is what I asked dear sweet Ed to do with mine. I just love that detail!

Please pay no attention to my displays. I real quick threw a few things up, so I could take a picture for you all. The displays will not stay the way I have them now. I do NOT like it at all. ;-)

If you look close you can see part of the beadboard ceiling we started in the kitchen. We have not put any molding up yet, but it gives you an idea of what the painted beadboard looks like.

Well that's it for now my friends. I have a ton to get done today. Ed left this morning for another month long business trip, and I need to try and stay on top of it all. Still haven't done my cardio workout for the day, which I like to get done and out of the way early. Have a very blessed day!

I haven't updated in awhile because there really hasn't been much to update. Ed is back home, but leaves again next week, and will be gone the whole month of October.
We have been busy trying to get some things done while he is here, but sometimes it feels like we never get anything accomplished. ;-) We actually do, but when there is so many projects going on and you can only get to the ones you can get to it makes it seem like we didn't accomplish anything.
He did manage to finish up my new cupboard that is going on one side of the kitchen fireplace! It turned out absolutely perfect. I love it! I now have to find the time to get it painted, distressed and antiqued! I'll post pictures as soon as I get that project done.

We had also decided to open a booth at a local antique mall. After scaling way back on our internet sales, we thought doing something locally with items that we have already made would be better for us. I also can put the wholesale items I have in storage in the booth too. Ed finished up a new coffee table, and hanging shelf last night for the booth. I'll make sure to take pictures of them too when I get them all painted and finished. I'm not sure if we will offer them on the website or not. Ed is the one who builds all the furniture, and it makes it difficult when he is gone a month at a time. I've added a photo of one side of the booth. We are still working on the other side. Don't you love the wall paper? They won't let us change it either! :(

We are putting up wainscoting in the kitchen just like we did on the dining room ceiling, but instead of staining it I am painting it white. We have put up four sheets so far, but have another 12 to go... ;0 I don't think the rest will get up until he returns at the end of October. We are going to get the walls primed and painted this weekend, put up the trim work, and hopefully get the one cupboard painted. On the other side of the fireplace he is going to build me a corner buttery.
That is the last piece of furniture he has to build for the sitting area of the kitchen, and it is going to be a monster!! That is why he has saved it for last!

My new furniture for the fireplace area is suppose to be here the beginning of November, and I so wanted that part of the kitchen finished when the furniture arrived. Looks like it will be very close, but Ed has promised that it will be finished for the holidays... and then we get to move onto the rest of the kitchen, hallways, bedrooms and bathroom! It will be a busy winter for us! :)

My hope is that we will have everything done within 6 months! Not much pressure there, honey! This remodel has been going on for 2 years now, and I am so ready to have it done, plus now there is some added pressure. I got a call from Bill Mathews from Country Sampler. I was very flattered that they saw pictures of our dining room and wanted to put our home in their magazine, but as you all know, the dining room is the only room finished!! :0 I told Bill that it would be another 6 months before we finished up the rest of the house. He said that sounded great, and he would be in contact with me in 6 months!!!! I am excited about the prospect of being in Country Sampler, but the pressure just got turned up a notch or two!

Oh, I almost forgot! I did finish up these two projects yesterday. Nothing huge, but I love them! Simple projects to do, and I had fun making them!

Well that is about it for now peeps. I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful fall day wherever you are. It's going to be a gorgeous day here in the beautiful state of Kentucky, and I plan on getting out there and enjoying the heck out of it. I LOVE FALL!!!

It is hard to believe that it has been over a month since I last updated my blog... Actually it is going on almost 2 months. :(

Well my only excuse is that sometimes life has away of getting in the way of our plans.
Like most of us know, life can get rather hectic at times, and it has been beyond hectic in our household these past couple of months.

We are a homeschooling family, and we start our new school year in August. Ed travels a lot, so that leaves me as the sole parent to take care of it all. It works out for us in the end, but it can get rather daunting to say the least. I also was trying to run our business while Ed was away, and came to the conclusion that something had to give, and seeing as I have strived for the past 21 years to try and keep my priorities straight when it came to raising a family, I knew that I had to make a decision about the business. My children have always come before anything else in life, and I felt that they were getting the short end of the deal, so I scaled way back on the business, and that has helped immensely.

I also have been struggling with some serious health issues that I really did not want to face the reality of.
I think there may be many of you ladies out there who may understand or identify with the sacrifice of self. I have spent the last 21 years raising 5 beautiful children who I absolutely adore. It was not and is not in me to have these children and leave them to their own devises. I was and have been a complete and total hands on mother. I have stayed at home to raise them. I have played with them, read to them, snuggled them, laughed with them and cried with them. I gave them all the love, time and attention that a person can give, and to that I have no regrets.
The thing that I failed to do... was take care of me! I spent these past 21 years totally neglecting myself, and now I am facing the consequences of that neglect.

Last winter I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and put on oral medication. Well if that wasn't enough my lab work also came back with triglycerides through the roof, and now another medication. Within a month of starting the meds I started experiencing bad headaches. Another trip to the doctors confirmed what I expected... High Blood Pressure, and more meds. Within a few months of that I was then diagnosed with Anemia and was put on iron supplements and progesterone pills to try and combat the blood loss that was causing the anemia. :(
I sit here today now taking twice the amount of medication then my 70 year old mother! It has been a struggle to say the least! I have always had great health, and this seemed to come from nowhere... But did it? No, I have been heading here for the last 21 years. There is a reason why they call them the silent killers.

Getting my blood sugars under control has been a difficult thing to accomplish, but I think I am finally there. Yeah, me! That means no insulin shots!!!! :) I will probably always have to take the oral medication for the diabetes which really bums me out, but that is so much better then having to give yourself two shots a day. Been there, done that, and I hated it.

Now I am working on weight loss through both cardio and strength training. Making healthy food choices, and taking time for MYSELF!!!! That is such a strange concept for me. After 21 years of putting everyone and everything before myself I found it difficult to think about myself. I am slowly learning that it is OK to say, "Please get out of the bathroom while mommy takes a bath". In the past I could not have said that without feeling tremendous amounts of guilt. I give myself an hour a day for my workouts, and the children have come to learn that it's "mom time", and I am not to be disturbed. It took a week or so to make them understand that we meant this and the older ones are great to help with the younger ones if needed.

My goal and hope is to get off as much of this medication as possible and be as healthy as I can. It is a long road before me, and I know there will be good days and bad days, but I know I can do this. I have the most loving and supportive family anyone could ask for.

I know this post has nothing to do with primitives, remodeling or anything close to what you all probably would prefer to read, but it is where I am at and why I have pretty much been absent these past two months.

I can't promise that I will be posting anything new everyday or even every week, but as I am slowly getting things under control I will be posting projects that I am working on or have finished, where we are at with the remodel, and anything else that may pop up.

Thank you to all my blog friends for your many emails and concerns. I have missed catching up with you all. Have a very blessed evening!

Just wanted to post real quick. I have had a number of emails about the ceiling and floors, and I thought it would be easiest just to post on here.

The ceiling was done using bead board, and we covered up the seams from the butted ends using 4X4's. We used a hatchet and roughed up the sides a bit and stained them both with Early American stain by Minwax. It really was a pretty easy fix for that nightmare of a ceiling.

The floor was done using 1x10 pine boards... Yup, that is right. Pine Boards!! It's funny because we tend to think of wood floors as hardwood, and when I started researching old wood floors I found out that our ancestors used pine for their flooring. I would not have thought of pine on the floor because I always assumed wood floors were hardwood, but they are not always hardwood. If a home that is 100-200 years old still has it's pine wood floors after all these years,
then I think my pine floors will last through my lifetime. :)

We made sure to biscuit join one board to another for a nice tight fit, and Ed screwed each board to the floor joist to help with any shifting and buckling. We then used wood plugs to cover the screw holes. We sanded the floor, and then I applied one coat of the Early American stain. I put on 4 coats of the floor poly as the manufacturer suggested. That stuff was easy to apply and I only had to wait 2 hours in between coats. After the last coat I had to wait 24 hours before I could walk on it.It dries to a nice hard protective surface and there is very little shine. I don't like shine.. :)

There is a number of ways to lay wide plank flooring for the average DIYer, and this was the easiest way for us to do it. If you do a Google search you can find directions on how to lay wide plank pine floors.

I cannot say enough how much I love these floors. I have always wanted wide plank floors, and figured I would have to settle for the narrow hardwood floors that you buy at your local home improvement stores until I started looking into it!!!
Pine floors have so much more character then hardwood floors do. Don't get me wrong, I love hardwood floors, but the look I was going for is better achieved with the wide plank pine.

Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words. I really do appreciate you all taking the time to look and leave comments. Enjoy the rest of your Monday!

The Dining Room is finally finished!!! YIPPY!!!
Well at least 99% of it is finished. If you would all indulge my ramblings, I would love to give a bit of background on our remodel and share the before and after photos with you all. WARNING... This will be a long read. You can skip to the pictures if you want, but I hope you will take the time to read. There is a lot of blood, sweat and tears that go into a do-it-yourself remodel.

We bought this house 3 years ago. It was built in 1970, and it has never been updated. The kitchen, when we moved in was done in that wonderful 70's Green!!! Ugly!!!!
The counter were green, the sink was green, the mini blinds hanging on the window over the sink was GREEN!!!! When we pulled up the floor, yes you guessed it, the linoleum under it was GREEN!! The cabinets were that real dark wood that was popular during the 70's.
Well, I saw potential in this never updated home, and it had good bones, and the possibility of the one thing I always wanted.......A Fireplace in the kitchen!!!

There was a little den just off the kitchen with a fireplace. I remember the first time we came and looked at the house. I stood in the doorway between the kitchen and den, and tried to visualize the wall removed, and the kitchen enlarged to include that little den with the fireplace! Yup, I was sold!! I can look past paint, and wallpaper. I can even look past walls that shouldn't be there...lol!!
I could see the potential of what this house could be.

We started the remodel about 2 years ago, but we didn't start with just one room....Noooo, we decided lets do the whole upstairs at once, excluding bedrooms..
I'm not talking paint a few walls, and change a few things in one room. I'm talking 4 rooms...walls torn down, stairs ripped out, electrical moved and rerouted, flooring torn up, and once the gutting was done, and we had a big empty shell for a home, we had to start the rebuilding. I tried to be realistic, and thought it would take us 6 months to a year to remodel..... lol... that is funny!!! Two years later and we now have one room finished. I am not complaining.... I am thrilled to have that one room done!!! After living with sub floors that you can't walk barefoot on, or you WILL get a splinter, sheet rocked walls with half finished tapping & mudding, that you can't decorate, light switches that don't work and the MESS.... Well lets just say I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and it is worth all the chaos and turmoil.

I have the best husband anybody could ask for, and he is a pretty handy guy to have around. Ed has done all the construction of our remodel. He has had helpers. The kids and me! :)
He has had to make new stairs and cut a big old hole in my kitchen floor(talk about nail biting) for the new stairs, he had to take down a LOAD BEARING wall!!!! That was a very scary day! When he and Adam removed the last upright to put the braces in, that whole ceiling dropped a good 2 to 3 inches....For a split second I thought we were all goners. I really thought the whole roof was going to come crashing down on us all. Thankfully he knows what he is doing, and I just worry way to much.
Ed built another wall in our dining area with pocket walls, so I could have the pocket doors I dreamed of. He did all the wiring and rewiring for new light fixtures, outlets and light switches. He and the boys laid down all the wide plank flooring in three rooms. That was big job...They cut each board to length, biscuit joined each and every plank one to another, screwed the flooring down, and wood plugged all the holes. I got the job of staining and polyurethaning the floors. He continues to build all our kitchen cabinets, cupboards, island, and whatever else I dream up!!! :)

We have had our fare share of mishaps along the way, and the layout of our remodel has had to be changed a few times, but we have rolled with the changes, and I couldn't be happier with the way everything is finally shaping up.

I only have a few before pictures of the dining room, and they actually are not even before pictures. In these pictures Ed had already torn down the wall that separated the dining room and front room, built the pocket walls, laid down the floor, and did the sheet rock.

Take a look at this ceiling. I'm not a big fan of pop-corn ceiling. Please don't get offended if you are. Just not my thing, and that's what makes us all individuals. Now maybe I could live with pop-corn ceilings if I absolutely had to, but what I can't live with is pop-corn ceilings with glitter!!!!! Yes, I said glitter. I have never seen glitter sprayed into the ceilings before, and this house has it in just about every room!! There was NO WAY we were going to scrape these ceilings!! Could you imagine the mess, and the amount of time it would take? We debated putting sheet rock over the old ceiling like we did in the kitchen, but I had another idea, and I must say it was not met with much enthusiasm!!! I Love the finished look, and so does everybody else. What do you all think????

Before with glitter pop-corn ceiling..
After pictures... We still need to put up the ceiling trim, and I am still debating a chair rail. I have gone back and forth about the chair rail. I am leaning toward it with a small amount of stenciling above the rail, but then I think it will look to busy in there. It is a small room. Any opinions would be appreciated.

We painted the walls Woodrow Wilson Linen, all the trim, doors are done in Country Red from Olde Century paint, and we used Early American Minwax stain on the floors and ceiling.

I still have some tweaking to do in here. I want to put a corner table below the hanging corner cupboard, either a rug or floor cloth beneath the table, and few other things I want to change around, but all in all I am very pleased with the finished product. Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

Hi There Everyone!

Well I have been out straight trying to get the dining room finished. I posted about it a couple weeks ago hoping Ed would get a chance to finish up that one room while he was home. He did get a lot done before he had to head back out, and the boys and I have been busy the last two weeks trying to get it finished. I wanted to post some before and after pictures, which I'm hoping to do by the end of the week, so check back in a couple days. :)

Anyways, I have been trying to get my Make Do chair finished to put in the dining room, and finally got it all finished today.
I have had the ladder back for years and have been trying to figure out how to make the make do for about a year now. I did a lot of research, and really found very little on how to construct them. I study what pictures I came across, and thought I finally had it figured out. It was a bit difficult, but I am happy with the way it turned out. I made some mistakes on it, but will know better next time...if there is a next time ... :)

Well I think that's about it. I did finish up some bird pincushions I was working on too. I wanted them for the hanging corner cupboard in the dining room. I'll have to go take some pictures so you can all see them.
Thanks for taking a peek, and have a blessed day!

Okay ladies, I just took a couple pictures of my bird pincushions, and I forgot I finished up a hanging sheep over the weekend. I used a Kentucky Primitive pattern for the sheep.
Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were capture.

These were not wild-eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians. They were soft-spoken men of means and education. They had security, but they valued liberty more. Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledged: “For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the
protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.” They gave you and me a free and independent America.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlhXVDrJtPuSJlPsK8r_ZZPFSaY4PbGdv8XOW0nVVnBt4gW6sGr6gVYT2AWU-M17gTZkaN_khwPs1905vA2Pf-X_L4iRkqAgQG8y-W-0b2ssSQuVUmx5-tEVpQ0jihK27Ya2xO6qFZ-WM/s320/2622567601_3f76520c5f+continemtial+army.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354580036072170690" />

Throughout the history of our nation brave men and women have given the ultimate sacrifice. I went in search of rag balls on ebay, and was shocked at the cost for vintage rag balls.. Average price was $20-$25.00 each!!!! I'm thinking I need at least 8-10, and there is no way I am paying that for them. There was some homemade plaid and check ones, but I didn't want any checks. I did bid on a set of 3, and lost the bid.
I then was doing a google search for rag balls when I had my duh, you dumb dumb, why not just make some yourself... :)

I am an avid crafter and have been my whole life. My Mom & Grandma were both seamstresses, and I grew up sewing, and watching the two of them make everything imaginable. Why in the world was I looking for these on ebay when I can make them myself...Duh!

Anyways here they are. I wanted them pretty grunged up, so I went pretty heavy on the cinnamon.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 222px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJtfPBkOFd3AoXDIAvPk7WZSIbrmvLvpnMkSxkCUJtv8A_HqrUZ-ce2NA-SlTplKIP30TgBbEslaz-uhBG8WSjJuwwThdNxqSMHkg-M479fJPfCgh6dHZiDzmELHio-7w9TuqOpCYHFX4/s320/Img0998.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353297987030635458" />

I just have to include this picture. I burn very easy to begin with, and then some of the medication I take makes me even more sensitive to the sun. Uggg.. :(
I did use sunscreen, but I guess I am super duper sensitive to the sun. :)

What a wonderful Father's Day we had!
Ed has been away this past month for work, and arrived home late Saturday night. Adam and I picked him up at the airport at midnight. By the time we got home it was close to 1:00AM, and it was off to bed for us all.

We woke to a beautiful Sunday morning, and plans to do nothing other then have some fun with Dad!!!! We spent the day playing in the pool, barbecuing, and just enjoying our family!

Ed is home for a week, and then back out on the road for another month. The kids really do miss him when he's gone, especially Anna & Jordon. We all miss him, but the younger two have a harder time with Daddy gone for so long.
With only a week at home, I don't think much will get done with the house. I do hope we can at least get the dinning area finished up while he is here. It is so close to being finished, and I want at least one room to be completed.
I'll be posting pictures as we finish up the dinning area. Hopefully this week!!
Have a blessed day!

Our two princesses...Megan & Anna

<img style="display:block; I love our flag not matter what size or material it is made from, but this is a thing of beauty, and I must say, crafted with nothing but love. We used 1 1/2" wood slats to construct the flag, and then painted the individual slats using Milk Paints in Olde Navy, Country Red and Olde Parchment. Then we slightly distressed and antiqued it. We attached a heavy wire on the back for hanging.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 289px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYW9HWpMFvAg_dNq8W-HmB9rekCbYzLPWM7WhJGUcB0yCK1xIgTLm_WXiQ6fRdD2eHmxQ4sWi-9iUnbWLZymmBE1MmrWsUEkB0tJN6cbA6bIU2bJQhEspsa1ds3zctJZ0OOnSaikNomGQ/s320/img0856.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348846937613186562" />

I am so excited about the "Wounded Warriors Project", and opening up this new category in support of our brave men & women in uniform.

Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15696154852026666350noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7140292327170507847.post-42155706224597269762009-06-16T22:45:00.000-07:002009-06-17T11:30:48.915-07:00My First Post

Welcome to my blog. This is all new to me, so please be patient while I learn my way around blogland. :) My plan for this blog is to be able to share thoughts, ideas, projects, and whatever else comes up. I love Early American History which naturally lead me to my love for Early American/ Colonial/Primitive Decorating. I shop for it, I make it, I bargain for it, I save for it, but I try to balance that obsession with other things too... :)

I think my first post will be just a teeny bit about me and what is going on in my heart & soul right now.

My name is Kim, and I am a stay at home to my 5 children. I have been married for 21 years to my best friend Ed, who has served our entire marriage in the US Army, and just retired recently Oct. of 2008. Life has been hectic to say the least with the moves, and the new places, faces, and challenges. Being an Army wife can be a struggle at times, but worth the sacrafic that we take in defense of our great nation. If I had to do it all over again I would not change a thing. At least when it comes to standing behind Ed, and his decision to serve his country these past 20 some years. Now we are onto new things! Ed now works for SRI (Stanford Research Institute) but still is involved through his work with the military. There is a bit of travel for him (a month at a time) but I'm use to it now, and at least I know he is safe. His deployment to Iraq was one of the hardest times in my life, and though we all came through it safe and sound, I would not want to have to go through that again.

My heart goes out to those who are living right now with spouses deployed to the Middle East.

It is a hard thing to live every day with the worry that your loved one may not come home, or come home wounded or maimed in some way. Because I am so thankful to all those who stand on the line to defend what we all take every day for granted. I will continue to do what I can in whatever capacity that I am able to support their sarafic for the rest of us.

As the owner of a home-based internet sales I will be donating a percentage of our sales from select products to a wonderful non-profit organization called "Wounded Warriors Project".

It is my hope that not only can we help monitarily, but to spread awareness of the need our wounded warriors have, and the challenges they face along with their families. At the top of WWP website are the words, "The greatest casuality is being forgotten". Lets not forget those who have sacraficed so very much and ask for so very little.

My hope is to have a new category on our website open by the end of this week for those who would like to make a purchase. The new category will be Giving Works. 30% of the purchase price will go to WWP.

There is absolutely no need to make a purchase in order to donate or send money to WWP. You can go directly to their website and make a donation yourself HERE.

I plan on a give away for next week, so please check back. You are going to love it!!!

Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15696154852026666350noreply@blogger.com5
